Proper clutching is one of the quickest and lowest-cost tools to maximize performance for your side-by-side. Seeing the need for a clutch kit for the Kawasaki KRX1000, S&S Off-Road Division developed an adjustable clutch arm kit that lets you fine-tune the engagement point to best fit your driving style, tire size, and even elevation.
Changing tire size, adding weight with racks and winch, as well as any power adders, will impact where in the RPM range the clutches engage the drivetrain. Engage too soon and the engine will not be in the optimum power band, causing your KRX to bog. Engage too late and you’ll be slamming the drivetrain each time you get on the gas. Incorrect clutch setup will also cause premature belt failure.
The S&S arms are thru hardened 4130 steel for maximum durability and include 1.4-gram magnetic weights for the ultimate in fine-tuning. Arm weight ranges from 87-gram bare to 109-gram fully loaded.
S&S also uses a low-friction polymer bushing material, so the arms spin out with minimal resistance. Our favorite part of the S&S clutch kit is the simple guide sheet that walks you through the magnet quantity required based on your mods and even covers where to put them across the arm to optimize power delivery.
