It has come and gone. The 2022 edition of the eBay Motors Sand Sports Super Show took place this past weekend at the OC Fair and Events Center in Costa Mesa, California. Over the three days of the show, attendees could check out the latest in the sand sports industry as well as some of the hottest products and best-looking vehicles.
The eBay Motors Sand Sports Super Show has become the go-to show for consumers to check out the products they want to put on their vehicles. With over 300 exhibitors at this year's show, consumers could talk one-on-one with the companies who make the products.
"The Sand Sports Super Show represents the official kick-off to 'season,' seeing old friends, meeting new friends, and helping families and friends get into the machine they have wanted to get since last season," Neil Adams of Bert's Mega Mall said. "The overall feeling of the show is sharing and spreading the passion ourselves, and those that attend have to all things dune and dirt related!"
This year's show had everything from releasing new products to seeing all the top manufacturers in the Powersports segment under one roof. This year's show had everything from new paddle tires, exhaust kits, and turbo kits.
"Rugged Radios loves the opportunity to meet our customers face to face and spend quality time with everyone in the industry," Eric Lotz of Rugged Radios said. "The Sand Sports Super Show is the sand season kick-off, and a perfect opportunity to showcase our product and outstanding customer service. We love the show's excitement to not only the attendees but to Rugged Radios as well."
Something new to this year's show was the Fox Factory Proving Grounds in partnership with Hammerking Productions. All weekend long, multiple times a day, showgoers could see high horsepower action and meet professional drivers. The proving ground gave everyone to see the vehicles in action, hitting a jump, burning tires, and hitting the rhythm section.
Terry Madden put on a show in his Can-Am along with Jeep Thrillz Off Road in their built Jeep Wrangler. Terra Crew also showed what entirely made, street legal prerunners could do, and no off-road show would be complete without Blake Wilkey in Megalodon.
"For me, my favorite part of the Sand Sports Super Show is getting to see so many industry friends as well as make a ton of new friends," Wilkey said. "The demos were also a hit. After smoking a rear set of X-Comp tires seeing all the smiles on everyone around the proving ground made it all worth it!"
This year everyone at the proving grounds got a special treat when Robby Gordon headed out in his Speed UTV to show precisely what the vehicle could do. His first time out on the course Saturday did not go as planned.
After doing some laps and warming the car up, he hit the jump. Everything went well the first couple of times, but on the third jump, the car broke, leaving the passenger rear tire cambered.
"The car we had out on the course has 10,000 miles on it," Gordon had said. "This car had the previous welding done before we had caught it and adjusted it for the current vehicles. We broke the inner pivot tabs off before and had to flux-core weld them with only a 110-volt welder. The ones that broke on the proving grounds were the same. We got them welded properly and headed back for the next day."
The last day of the 2022 eBay Motors Sand Sports Super Show got a treat. Not only did Gordon bring back his Speed UTV, but he also jumped it more than the day before, and two-wheel drove it around the grounds.
Don't miss out on next year's show from September 15th to 17th at the OC Fair and Events Center.
